Is Tequila the answer to the Tea Party?

There’s a lot of talk recently about the conception of a new political party: the Tequila Party. What began with talks in November 2010 by Southwest Latino leaders who wanted to put pressure on the Democratic party will launch into a movement in Tucson, Arizona this Saturday. The party is focused on the needs of Latinos that are currently being ignored by both major parties, as well as the Tea Party. It’s supposed to be a wake up call for the nation’s largest majority. With the slogan, “Your Shot for Change,” a rally planned for this Saturday, and nothing else scheduled can it/will it be taken seriously? Is a new party a distraction or Latino empowerment. Only time will tell.

Are you ready for "Your Shot for Change"?

  1. Well read this and listen to the Tequila Founder President being interviewed. She is a lifelong Republican and president of Somos Republican. This is a divisive movement that has done much more harm than good!!!

  2. Supposedly this isn’t specifically a “party” like the Tea Party, but more a movement to galvanize and mobilize Latino voters. It is nonpartisan yet I am unsure exactly how I feel about it. I’m pretty indifferent and skeptical about their impact.

If anything though, I hope they do encourage and motivate more Latinos to vote. Only time will tell though.
