Heartbreak. Weâve all been there (even Valentine’s Day can’t save you from it) – but in a world that is so connected and social, a lot of times relationships that go sour find themselves reflected within our social media habits.
For a lot of people, relationships arenât âofficialâ until they are noted on Facebook, and a lot of people wonât consider it truly over until Juan Doe is no longer in a relationship flashes across our newsfeeds.

Being Latino was recently invited to take a sneak peek at this yearâs Philadelphia International Flower Show . The event was put together by the Greater Philadelphia Tourism Marketing Corp and was held at the Eventi Hotel in midtown Manhattan. This wasnât your run-of-the-mill press event and that was quite apparent as one walked down the hallway. We were about to enter Hawaii: The Islands of Aloha.

As parents, we put an immense amount of trust in teachers. Latino parents tend to trust even more than usual, giving teachers full responsibility for the disciplining of their child. They expect teachers to be the parents at school, while they are the parents at home. Itâs all part of the âit takes a village to raise a childâ mentality. Unfortunately, sometimes there are teachers that just cannot be trusted.

So I recently watched the horror-comedy Attack the Block, a British movie about an alien invasion of the inner-city projects. Yes, itâs as preposterous as it sounds, and while far from brilliant, itâs a fun ninety minutes.
However, I made a classic internet mistake after I saw the movie: I read other peopleâs comments on the film.

Try Googling âcareer vs. relationshipâ, you wonât find much research but you will find millions of opinion forums where devastated young people are venting about making a decision that will affect the rest of their lives. The most common scenario is when one partner is moving away due to a desirable job offer in another city, leaving behind the romantic relationship. This issue of choosing between romance and success has to do with priorities. What is more important to you: building a career that can secure a financial future and provide personal satisfaction or finding/keeping the right partner to share your life with?
People have different approaches to this.
